Verified Breeder

At Harmony Pet Match, we value transparency and responsible breeding practices.

Our goal is to educate potential puppy owners about the importance of responsible breeders and provide them with the assurance that breeders at Harmony Pet Match adhere to these standards.

To achieve this, we have developed an independent guide called the “Harmony Pet Match Code of Conduct,” which has been approved by veterinarians. These guidelines establish the criteria for identifying responsible breeders.

You may have wondered about the significance of the “Harmony Pet Match Verified” badge in the breeder listings. We have conducted comprehensive research on state laws, purebred and mixed breed dog association guidelines, veterinary best practices, and breeder expertise to establish the standards listed below.

In addition, our team personally works with each breeder at Harmony Pet Match to verify their information and ensure their breeding practices align with the Harmony Pet Match Code of Conduct.

We understand that reaching a consensus on the ideal breeding program can be challenging, and we do not claim to have achieved absolute perfection. However, we have strived to create a framework that encourages responsible breeders to be transparent about their practices and enables potential owners to understand what to look for in a responsible breeder.

We believe that breeders who adhere to the code of conduct provide the best possible start for the puppies at Harmony Pet Match.

The Harmony Pet Match Code of Conduct is divided into six main sections to enable potential puppy owners to understand what breeders at Harmony Pet Match commit to and why each section is important.

Breeding & Welfare
Breeders prioritize the welfare of their dogs, including aspects such as nutrition, disease control, grooming, and compliance with age and overbreeding restrictions.

Health Practices
Breeders have knowledge of common health issues and frequently conduct genetic tests.

Home Environment
Breeders raise their puppies in safe and clean environments and are open to inspections.

Physical Condition
Breeders strive to raise healthy and well-socialized dogs for family households.

Feeding
Breeders ensure that all puppies and dogs receive adequate nutrition and a balanced diet.

Documentation & Records
Breeders maintain comprehensive records for each dog they breed and work with Harmony Pet Match in cases where dogs need to be returned or rehomed.

Breeding and Welfare Practices
Breeders commit to the following practices regarding breeding and welfare:

Not breeding females until they reach 12 months of age for each breed and 18 months for large breeds. If a female is bred during her first heat cycle occurring after reaching the minimum age requirements, the breeder must provide a veterinarian’s certificate supporting this decision.
Written consent from a veterinarian to breed a female that is older than 6 years or has had more than 4 litters, complying with additional restrictions imposed by their state.
Limiting the number of litters per year and per female to avoid overbreeding.
Ensuring that each female has sufficient time to recover between litters.
Not using methods to promote overbreeding or shorten the gestation period.

  • Avoiding inbreeding and using healthy, unrelated parent animals.
  • Ensuring adequate vaccinations and veterinary care for all puppies.
  • Ensuring proper socialization of the puppies and exposure to different environments, sounds, and people.
  • Ensuring proper nutrition and care for the puppies.
  • Complying with all applicable state laws and regulations regarding dog breeding.

Harmony Pet Match is committed to responsible breeding practices and animal welfare. We work hard to ensure that the breeders who collaborate with us adhere to these standards. We want to provide potential puppy owners with the assurance that they can find healthy and well-cared-for dogs with us.

However, please note that it is important for you as a puppy owner to fulfill your own due diligence as well. Make sure to personally meet the breeder, inspect the condition of the dogs and their environment, and obtain all relevant information about the puppy’s health and pedigree before releasing the payment.

If you have any further questions or need additional information, we are here to assist you.
